Hello, I am Leonie Moore, and have joined the committee as secretary, a position I’ve never held before, but with the help and guidance of the other committee members, I hope to do the job justice.
I was born in Tasmania and when I was in my early teens, my family moved to Victoria. I finished my schooling, then started work in retail. My husband Michael and I have a son, Jarryd who still lives in Melbourne.
We moved from Melbourne to Newcastle where I began work as a bookkeeper, holding down three jobs at the same time.
After returning to Melbourne, my husband and I decided we no longer wanted to live in the hustle and bustle of Greater Melbourne and began our search for a quiet place to retire to. We did a lot of research, and decided to settle in Tassie. While conducting our search (most of it online), I came across the U3A organisation and decided the town that we would choose must have a U3A close by. By this time my sister had moved to Port Sorell, so we came for a visit, and fell in love with the beauty of the area and what it had to offer.
One of the first things I did was to join the U3A. I’ve met and made friends with some wonderful people and have enjoyed the range of activities that are on offer.
After living in Port Sorell for the past three years, Michael and I now call it our forever home.
